Reaction MMA Pro Matt Metts Fights in XFC 18 June 22nd
Reaction MMA Jiu-Jitsu Matt Metts, Pro Fighter
The Matthew Wellington Group announced earlier today that Reaction MMA Pro Fighter Matt Metts (1-0 Pro, 7-0 Amateur) has reached an agreement to face Scott Holtzman (1-0) at XFC 18 in Nashville Tennessee on June 22nd. Holtzman won his professional debut against a fellow MWG client in Brandon Demastes at XFC 16 and is considered a top prospect in the lightweight division. Metts won his professional debut against Jason Keen last fall. This fight is set to air live on HDNet. Read the full release from MWG below.
MWG client Matt Metts (1-0 professional, 7-0 amateur) will face his biggest test to date on June 22 in a nationally televised bout against fellow lightweight prospect Scott Holtzman at Xtreme Fighting Championship 18.
Metts and Holtzman will square off on the feature portion of the card broadcast on HDNet. Needless to say, Metts — who trains at Reaction MMA in Lexington, Ky., under Jorge Gurgel BJJ brown belt Rob Nickerson — is excited for the chance to fight in front of a national audience for a top regional promotion.
Please consider purchase of tickets directly through Matt Metts as this benefits Matt in his quest.
“It seems like it will be fun,” Metts said. “It has been a goal of mine to fight on television since I started in the sport, and to get to this point is great. The best way to describe how I feel would be excited.”
Like Metts, Holtzman (1-0 professional, 5-0 amateur) is coming off of a successful professional debut after defeating Brandon Demastes at XFC 16. Holtzman earned a spot in the XFC by winning an amateur tournament and the promotion recently signed him to a five-fight deal following the Demastes win.
“I had the chance to watch him fight on XFC 16 against Demastes,” he said. “Watching that fight you could see that he is a tough, tough guy. He looks likes he is a hard worker and tries hard to perfect his craft. I think we will have an exciting fight and I look forward to competing against him.”

For those of you who like to test your striking, you should consider making plans now for this July in Des Moines IA for the Muay Thai Classic 2012. During July 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Airport Convention Center there will be hundreds of serious, bad ass AMATEUR strikers gathering for one of the largest striking events in the US. As of today, they already have 258 strikers registered. You can see what divisions those number break down into on the Thai Boxing Association-Sanctioning Authority Website. What I like the most about these events is the kids striking and they have kids Novice (0-3 fights) down to the 6 y/o division. On the Thai Boxing Association-Sanctioning Authority site you can see all the details about what fighters are in what divisions. Perhaps what will be most interesting to some of you is the impressive belts that this event awards to winners. Whether you are a spectator or a competitor, this is sure to be both and educational and entertaining event. And if you cannot be there in person, you can catch all the action streaming live over the internet.
